Fundraising Campaigns

You have the right board. You have solid fundraising and stewardship practices in place. Now you want to take your mission to the next level through a major fundraising campaign.

Based on each client’s needs, Lamington Advisors will assemble an expert team to help position you for success. Whether through pre-campaign readiness assessment, pre-campaign planning, campaign support or post-campaign review, we address seven areas that are critical to success:

 

1. Leadership

Is the board behind this effort? Does the board have the stamina to see the campaign through to its successful conclusion? Is the board ready for the inevitable bumps in the road? Is there an appropriate volunteer leader who is willing to champion the effort? 

2. Case and Supporting Budget

Can you tell a compelling story that is concrete, urgent and important? Does the budget align and support the story? Is the case supported by your overall strategic plan? 

3. Donors

Do you have a stable of ready donors and the potential to engage more wealthy supporters as the campaign progresses? Does the fundraising potential align with the needs outlined in the case and budget? If not, what can we do to bring the budget into alignment?

4. Timing

Momentum is critical. Why do this now? What is the competitive landscape? Are your top donors ready to commit? Are there other potential large gifts you can announce at strategic points to maintain excitement and prevent donor, staff and board fatigue?

5. Infrastructure

Is the staffing in place? Do you have the CRM software and infrastructure to support campaigning volunteers? Does leadership have the time to support the effort? Are there any issues to be addressed internally or with external audiences before you can move ahead? Have you budgeted for the expense of mounting this effort - increased staffing, campaign counsel, materials and event expenses?

6. Culture

Is there a clear culture of philanthropy both internally and externally? Do people know how donations support your mission? Is there a good feeling around giving and around the work you do? Do you celebrate donors?

7. Communications

How will your communications strategy support a campaign?
